Philosophy of Educating

Teaching is a constant learning process and also a profession for helping others to learn.  In my classroom I hope to be able to give my students the education they need to keep moving on in their educational futures.  In my classroom I plan on using different aspects of teaching in order to appeal to all my students.  Because all students learn differently, as a teacher, I need to be able to adapt my style of teaching to accommodate their needs for learning.  I want all my students to be successful in my classroom and then continue that success onward.

In this class, Educational Technology, I have learned a lot more than just a couple aspects of technology.  Throughout the class I was able to understand how beneficial using certain technology can be in a classroom, as well as how to actually use it.  There are numerous different ways that technology is changing classrooms, but one big way is how classrooms are physically being designed.  In my classroom I want to be able to have a technology friendly room, that is helpful for group work, individual instruction, discussion/lecture setting, and also use of technology.  In my classroom I want my students to be comfortable in using different styles of learning, and I also think that with more styles of learning students will have a better understanding of the material.

Teaching in the 21st century is an art that is constantly changing.  Adapting and using the new technology in the classroom in order to help facilitate learning is important.  Being a math teacher I want my student to be able to be involved in the lesson and interact with each other in order to help each other get a better grasp of the material.  In my classroom, a key teaching point will be to have a main focus on students helping students.  I want my room to be a very student centered environment, where their learning comes first.  By having a student centered classroom, it means that I will give my students several options for learning the lesson.  I want to be able to do an introduction of the new material at the beginning of the each day, then have the student break up into certain groups or individually to finish the lesson.  But that also meant that I want my students to feel comfortable in my classroom to ask me questions about the material.

Because I am a very interactive person myself, I want to make sure I am active in my students learning.  By using some of the Cool Tools from Education Technology, it will keep my students engaged and will help me to get an understanding of where some may be struggling.  Not only will cool tools help me in introducing and teaching, but I can get my students to be engaged in having them create presentations of things they have learned using these cool tools.  But also in the classroom being able to incorporate computers, tablets, etc. will be helpful for teaching math for getting formative assessments.  Using these resources can help me to gauge where my students are failing to completely understand a topic, whether it be graphing, equations, or solving a real world problem.  In math it will be helpful to use different formative assessments and online grades so that I can help students that may need more individual attention on a specific topic.  I want my student to succeed and technology integrated in my room will be the best way for that to happen!
